Cast a line from the shore or from your boat into Black Lake for your fill of walleye, bass, northern pike, musky and perch. Black Lake is also famous for its unique limited sturgeon fishing season and with 10,000 acres of water. You'll have plenty of chances to find that ideal fishing spot.
The Black Mountain Forest Recreation Area is teeming with deer and also has a number of wild turkey and bear. Bird and small game hunting is also available.
Miles of marked trails crisscross the Black Mountain Recreation Area and they range in difficulty from easy to more challenging.
Hiking & Skiing:
Hike and ski along 30 miles of trails, each marked with a degree of difficulty from "Easy" to "Most Difficult". The trails take you through the towering forest with views of Black Lake and a possible sighting of Lake Huron if the conditions permit.
Over 80 miles of groomed trails take you from Cheboygan to Millersburg and throughout the Black Mountain Recreation Area. Enjoy scenic views, wildlife viewing and the great outdoors as you ride.
Off Road Vehicles (ORVs):
Access 60 miles of ORV trails and 15 miles of ORV routes with winding trails, straight routes and even a 65 acre scramble area for motorcycles and ATVs.
